Researchers warn of 'mongrel of the glen'
A NEW hybrid deer may soon emerge on Scotland's hills.
Scientists have found that native red deer are changing shape through breeding with the Japanese sika deer – on which Bambi was based. Professor Josephine Pemberton, of Edinburgh University, whose lab undertook the research, said this suggested that "the mongrel of the glens" was a possibility.
