Researchers find cod liver oil cuts drug need in arthritis fight
COD liver oil can reduce the need for anti-inflammatory drugs by almost a third in patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis, according to new research.
A nine-month study carried out in rheumatology units in Edinburgh and Dundee found those who took the supplement were able to reduce their intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
One researcher, Professor Jill Belch, said: “This offers hope to many rheumatoid arthritis patients. Cod liver oil supplements can offer a natural pain management treatment without the harmful side effects that can be associated with anti-inflammatories.”
