There were clashes between republican and protesters and monarchists on the Royal Mile.

As the royal wedding was under way yesterday, protests took place both in Parliament Square and outside Holyrood Palace. There were minor clashes, with police reporting around 200 protesters and two arrests.

Republican protesters walked to the foot of the Royal Mile, briefly holding up traffic and chanting slogans at the gates of Holyrood Palace.
