Report backs MP's calls for home energy generation
EDINBURGH North and Leith MP Mark Lazarowicz has said a new government report backs up his campaign for small-scale energy production.
The report concludes that microgeneration through the likes of solar panels or mini-wind turbines for homes could produce enough energy by 2020 to generate as much output as five nuclear power stations.
Two years ago Mr Lazarowicz's private members Bill aimed at boosting microgeneration became legislation in the form of the Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Act 2006.
Mr Lazarowicz said: "With the right type of measures taken by governments the number of microgeneration installations could increase 100 fold by 2020."
