Reed 'fans' slammed for selling tickets online

PROMOTERS of the Lou Reed gig at the Playhouse have slammed supposed fans for selling tickets on eBay – before they even went on general sale today.

Front and second row tickets for the concert were available for up to 275 on the site yesterday, after being released to fan club organisations on Thursday.

Promoters Regular Music described the news as "very disappointing", although they said "great seats" were still available.

A spokeswoman said: "We don't agree with this practice at all, but because they are fan club tickets they should be traceable.

"This is a small amount of tickets overall, but it's still very disappointing. The rest are being sold from proper outlets."

The June 25 gig is Reed's only Scottish date on his European tour, which will see him perform his 1973 album Berlin with a 30-piece ensemble, including his band, a string and horn section and a children's choir.

Sarah Heaney, marketing manager for the Playhouse, said they had no way to control touts selling tickets on the net.

She said: "It's very sad that people may buy these tickets on eBay thinking that there were sold out, when they can call today and get them for face value. The sellers are only out to make money and some will be caught out."
