Rebus author ranked No 1 by library-goers
REBUS author Ian Rankin has been named the most popular Scottish author by readers in West Lothian's libraries.
The Edinburgh-based crime writer will collect his award at Carmondean Library in Livingston on 12 January.
He will also give a talk about his work and sign copies of his books.
Earlier this year, his latest novel, The Complaints – his first since retiring Rebus – became a number one bestseller, and the author has said he may now write a follow-up.
Mr Rankin graduated from Edinburgh University in 1982, and his first Rebus novel was published five years later. The Rebus books are now translated into 22 languages and are bestsellers on several continents.
Earlier this month, a successful bidder pledged more than 750 to share a pie and a pint with the author.
Mr Rankin offered to buy a pie and pint in the Oxford Bar for the highest bidder in aid of charity Garvald Edinburgh.
