Reality check on the frontline

For Private Danny Morrison his first tour of Afghanistan has been a reality check.

Pte Morrison, from Halewood in Liverpool, has been shot at too many times to count, but it has not been like the computer games he is used to.

The 21-year-old, from Delta Company 5 Scots, said: "I didn't know what to expect. You play Call Of Duty and think it's going to be like that. But it's a lot more realistic than a computer game."

He continued: "I remember my first contact as clear as day.

"It's not until afterwards and you are safe that you think, 'That was a bit close'. At the time you just get on with your job."

Pte Morrison usually carries a general purpose machine gun (GPMG) on patrol, which means he can be a Taleban target.
