Readers can get Lost in free Conan Doyle books
FREE copies of Arthur Conan Doyle's classic adventure story The Lost World were being handed out to schools and libraries across Edinburgh today, as part of a massive reading campaign.
Three editions of the book have been created – a new paperback edition of the original text, a quick read edition for younger readers with a specially designed Wallace and Gromit cover and a graphic biography of Charles Darwin, whose theories of evolution are explored in The Lost World.
The Lost World Read 2009 is the UK's largest collaborative reading campaign and celebrates the 150th birthday of Edinburgh's own Arthur Conan Doyle and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin.
There is a full programme of events taking place in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Bristol, Hampshire, Shrewsbury, London, Oxford and all over south-west England.
There are over 35 events taking place in Edinburgh during February and full details of the campaign can be found on www.lostworldread.com.
