Raider strikes in mask made of cardboard

A THIEF in a home-made cardboard mask is being sought by police after he robbed a newsagent at knifepoint.

The masked man walked into RS McColl on Craigentinny Avenue at around 9.50pm on Sunday night and demanded cash from the 22-year-old shop assistant.

The 62-year-old manager then appeared and was ushered to the till by the suspect who produced a knife. When a three-figure sum of money was handed over, the man walked calmly from the shop.

The suspect is white, 5ft 8ins tall, of slight build with a local accent. He was wearing a dark blue baseball cap, a dark hood over the hat, and dark jacket, jeans and gloves, as well as the mask which seemed to be made of cardboard with eye holes cut out.
