Racist who threatened to bomb mosque denied bail
A MAN who threatened to blow up a mosque and behead a Muslim was denied bail yesterday because of the "serious nature" of the threats.
Neil MacGregor's bail was revoked at Glasgow Sheriff Court and he was remanded in custody until sentencing.
At an earlier hearing, MacGregor, 36, admitted telephoning and e-mailing Strathclyde Police and threatening to blow up Glasgow's Central Mosque. The e-mail also demanded the closure of all mosques in Scotland and threatened to behead a Muslim.
MacGregor, whose address was given as Melbourne, Derbyshire, also pleaded guilty to a charge of making racist remarks and committing a racially aggravated breach of the peace.
The 36-year-old was due to be sentenced yesterday but background reports requested by the sheriff were not available.
Sheriff Andrew Mackie called for a social and a psychiatric report and deferred sentence until the middle of June.
