Race attackers hunted after assault on Pole
A POLISH man was assaulted in the city centre by three men in an unprovoked racially motivated attack, police said today.
The man was first approached by his attackers – who seemed like they had been drinking – as he walked along Rose Street just before 7pm last night, said police.
After discovering the man was Polish, the men followed him to nearby Castle Street where they attacked him, punching and kicking his head and body.
The man has been left badly bruised across his face and body.
His attackers were scared off after a taxi driver saw what was happening and sounded his horn. He then took the Polish man to his home, which is believed to be in Leith.
A police spokesman said the street was busy at the time and appealed for any witnesses to the assault to come forward.
The three attackers were all wearing labourers clothes, including heavy work boots.
One was said to be between 18 and 20, while the other two were in their mid-20s. Another had a tattoo on his neck.
