Race to sniff out dog's owner

THE race is on to identify the owner of an abandoned greyhound recently found in his racing jacket by a railway track.

The dog, a black pure-bred greyhound, was found by a passer-by tied to a tree next to the railway line in South Queensferry.

Believed to be a former "flapper" racer, the dog was wearing a racing jacket and lead and had a tattoo on his ear with a racing number on it.

But the three-year-old dog has never been registered with the racing authorities and the Scottish SPCA are appealing for any information as to who had abandoned him.

The SSPCA want to track down his owner and also find the dog a new home.
