German joblessness at two–decade low

GERMAN unemployment edged up in December, but Europe’s biggest economy still reported the number of people out of work was the lowest in two decades last month.

The jobless rate was 6.6 per cent last month against 6.4 per cent in November, taking unemployment up 67,000 to 2.78 million. But it was down 231,000 on December 2010.
