Pupils' film wins climate change prize

YOUNG filmmakers in Dalkeith have scooped a top prize in a prestigious climate change competition.

The students from Dalkeith High School's Film Club stormed to victory with their Time to Take Control film in a contest commissioned by Christian Aid and Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, a coalition of around 60 Scottish organisations representing over two million Scots.

The Cool It! project was designed to engage Scottish youth with the issues of poverty and climate change in the developing world by offering them the opportunity to convey their own perspectives on the silver screen.

Diane Douglas, the teacher in charge of Dalkeith High School's Film Club, said: "This competition was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to get a glimpse of the film-making process."
