Pupils revved up for karting championship
SCHOOL CHILDREN racing to follow in the footsteps of Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton are giving karting their best shot.
George Watson's College has entered four teams in the British Schools Karting Championship, in January 2009. The event features pupils from across the country.
Headteacher Paul Dean said: "The response from our pupils to taking part has been fantastic, with numbers wanting to be involved far surpassing expectations.
"Undoubtedly, Lewis Hamilton is considered as a positive role model by our pupils and his progress from karting to the Formula 1 championship has increased interest in karting within the school. This is our first year in the championship and I'm confident it won't be our last."
