Gun nut faces restrictions on jobs and study

A GUN nut student found with 200 weapon parts in his home has been told by a judge that he can't undertake an educational course or employment without the approval of his supervising officer.

Ramsay Scott, 21, of Longniddry, was sentenced to more than three years in jail after buying 20,000 worth of gun components on the internet using his mother's credit card.

The High Court in Livingston heard how the former public schoolboy was interested in extreme violence and had trawled websites linked to massacres.

The court heard that East Lothian Council had sent a letter to the court asking that additional conditions be incorporated into Scott's supervised release order, such as not being able to start a university course without the approval of his supervising officer, and he must also attend psychological treatment when asked to do so by his officer.

Lord Uist granted the request to vary his order in court yesterday, ahead of Scott's release next month.
