Protesters picket Jerry Springer show

CHRISTIAN protesters picketed the controversial Jerry Springer the Opera musical when it opened in Edinburgh last night.

Around 40 angry church-goers - one dressed as a blood-stained Christ carrying a wooden cross - launched the protest at Edinburgh's Festival Theatre last night.

The musical, featuring tap-dancing KKK members and a camp Jesus, was slammed as anti-Christian by the protesters, who had travelled from as far away as St Andrews and Glasgow.

Paul James-Griffiths, a 43-year-old e script writer from the West End, dressed as Christ, said: "This is my artistic response to something where I feel people have pushed the boundaries too far."
