'Proof of coup' claim by police
DOCUMENTS seized by Turkish police indicate that a shadowy, ultra-nationalist illegal organisation planned to trigger a coup to unseat the government.
Yesterday's reports came as the governing AK Party defended itself in the country's top court against charges of trying to introduce Islamic rule.
Turkish media said a secret plan had been seized which described launching illegal protests on 7 July across 40 provinces and included details of assassination plots.
Twenty-one people, including two retired senior generals, journalists and politicians, were detained on Tuesday for links with the Ergenekon organisation.
