Probe for public body big earners
THE Scottish Government is to examine whether public bodies should reveal how many staff earn in excess of £150,000
Finance secretary John Swinney yesterday said he recognised there was a "growing public interest" in the number of high earners employed in the public sector.
Conservative finance spokesman Derek Brownlee had put forward an amendment to the Public Services Reform Bill to make this information public. Mr Swinney said such a move could "touch on data protection and employment law issues".
But he said the government would "explore whether it is possible to deliver the intended effect" of the amendment without falling foul of data protection or employment laws.
