Prince William: Held out against procession because he hated media

ACCORDING to Alastair Campbell, Prince William initially refused to talk to anyone about taking a role in his mother's funeral.

He claims the young prince was "consumed by a total hatred of the media" because of the apparent role of paparazzi in the car chase that led to Diana's fatal accident in a Paris tunnel. Tony Blair feared that William was "holding firm", until the prince finally agreed to join his father in the funeral procession.
