Prince William and bride-to-be Kate to return to St Andrews before wedding

Prince William and Kate Middleton will return to St Andrew's University next week as the insititution prepares for its 600th birthday.

The couple, who will marry in April, are making the visit to launch the three-year anniversary celebrations, which run to 2013.

William and Kate met while studying history of art together at the university.

A St James's Palace spokesman also confirmed today that Prince Harry will be best man at the wedding.

The couple have chosen four bridesmaids and two page boys - two of whom are the Prince's godchildren.

The bridesmaids are Lady Louise Windsor, seven, Margarita Armstrong-Jones, eight, Eliza Lopes, three, and three-year-old Grace van Cutsem - Prince William's goddaughter.

The page boys are William Lowther-Pinkerton, 10, and eight-year-old Tom Pettifer. Tom is the godson of Prince William.

The university's principal and vice-chancellor Professor Louise Richardson said: "We hope that Prince William and Miss Middleton are the first among many who will reconnect with St Andrews and join in the celebrations."

William graduated in 2005 with a 2:1 honours degree in geography after switching subjects, while Kate achieved the same award in history of art.
