Prince Harry to join city tribute to Afghanistan troops
PRINCE Harry will be in the Capital tomorrow to join soldiers paying their respects to troops who died in Afghanistan at a memorial service.
The 23-year-old household cavalry officer was part of the 52 Infantry Brigade in Helmund Province last year, which saw 24 soldiers, including Brits, Danes, Americans and Czechs, lose their lives.
About 210 soldiers, sailors and airmen will be in the city tomorrow, marching from Johnston Terrace at 10.30am to Lawnmarket, High Street, and on to St Giles' Cathedral where the Thanksgiving Service will take place.
After the service the parade will again form up in Parliament Square West and retrace their steps to Johnston Terrace where they will board buses and depart.
Prince Harry spent ten weeks on the frontline before being flown home in February amid fears for his safety when his deployment was reported in foreign media.
Captain Andrea Magowan, of the Scottish-based 52 Infantry Brigade, said: "He will be one of the soldiers on parade and at the memorial service representing the regiment."
The Prince will be joined by the families of those killed or wounded at the memorial, along with UK defence secretary Des Browne and his Danish counterpart Soren Gade.
