SOLDIERS who have just returned from Afghanistan will take part in a homecoming parade today, which will be attended by Prince Andrew.
The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, will be on parade in Penicuik.
The Duke of York, the Royal Colonel of the battalion, will take the parade salute then attend a medals ceremony in Glencorse Barracks to present campaign medals to soldiers.
Around 400 soldiers deployed to Helmand in April, where they were responsible for tasks such as handing over forward operating bases in Lashkar Gah to the Afghan National Army and supervising operations by Afghan National Security Forces.
Three soldiers from the battalion were killed and six were injured on April 30. They were on patrol between bases in Lashkar Gah when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.
