Primal Scream lead singer Bobby Gillespie is recovering in hospital after falling off the stage during a festival in Switzerland.

The Glasgow-born singer suffered minor back injuries when he fell from the front of the stage into the crowd at the Cariband festival last night.

Fans posted pictures on social media of the singer being carried away on a stretcher with the incident bringing a premature end to Primal Scream’s set.

It is understood that Gillespie did not suffer any major injuries in the fall and is expected to be released from hospital shortly.

The show was Primal Scream’s last show until June 17, when they are due to resume touring with a show at Spanish festival Azkena. Their next UK show is at The Beat-Herder Festival on July 15.
