Press expresses 'deep concern'

THE Scottish Newspaper Society is continuing to lobby for public announcements and local authority recruitment adverts to be placed in Scottish newspapers.

Ministers are proposing to lift the requirement on councils to place notices such as planning applications and road closures in newspapers and allow them to be published on council websites instead.

The society has issued a series of full-page adverts in a range of Scottish newspapers expressing its "deep concern" at the proposal from the Scottish Government.
