Bill Jamieson (Perspective, 31 July) is right about business in Scotland not making any premature moves regarding possible relocation in the event of a Yes vote.
Contrary, however, to Michelle Thomson of the pro-separatist Business for Scotland group, it is not because “Scottish businesses are relaxed” about the changes that independence might bring. To be that relaxed, they would need to be comatose.
No. Scottish businesses are taking the practical step of keeping their powder dry. They are observing how the two campaigns are doing and what they say.
They are well aware that any sudden shift in the balance of the debate may force them to change into a proactive mode, but, so far, things seem to be pointing to a victory for the status quo.
