Potter avoids ban in libraries
HARRY POTTER books look set to stay on American school library shelves despite a campaign by some parents in the Deep South.
Laura Mallory was fighting to ban JK Rowling's best-selling books from her children's school district as she believes they promote witchcraft.
But the Georgia Board of Education has now voted to keep the Merchiston-based author's work in the county's libraries.
School officials argued that the books encourage children to read and help them develop creativity and imagination.
Mrs Mallory is planning an appeal against the decision.
