Training boost for health care
MORE than 1,000 extra apprenticeships in health and social care were announced today by education secretary Fiona Hyslop as she visited a project in Edinburgh.
She said she would more than double the number of apprenticeships in the sector by opening them to all ages of applicants.
The move to open the places to adults is part of ScotAction, the Scottish Government's skills support package to help support Scotland's economy out of recession.
Ms Hyslop was meeting social care workers at a mental health housing support service run by the Richmond Fellowship Scotland who will now be able to upskill through a modern apprenticeship.
