UK business secretary Vince Cable will back the Liberal Democrats’ apprenticeships drive on a visit to Scotland today.
He will be joined by Scottish party leader Willie Rennie during the visit to Edinburgh.
The pair will highlight Edinburgh West MP Mike Crockart’s campaign to secure one hundred training places for young people in the capital in one hundred days.
The campaign, which began in May, has already attracted the support of dozens of local businesses and ratho-based EDTE are the latest local company who have agreed to take on an apprentice.
It comes after Mr Cable sparked speculation of a future leadership bid at the weekend.
“I don’t exclude it – who knows what might happen in the future,” he said.
