MP slams carers’ benefit cuts

Edinburgh East MP Sheila Gilmore has slammed the UK Government over benefit cuts for carers.

Speaking during Carers Week, Ms Gilmore criticised plans to scrap Disability Living Allowance and replace it with Personal Independence Payment from 2013.

She said: “The government should always ensure that carers are given sufficient support.”
