Margo MacDonald compares Rangers team to senior citizens

Margo MacDonald has likened Rangers to an over-70s “walking football” team.
In a debate on community sport, Health and Sport Committee convener Duncan MacNeil called for more help for hard-to-reach social groups.
He said: “It was Mark Twain who said ‘I’m pushing 60 and that’s enough exercise for me’. But as more of us live longer, such a view becomes less tenable. Indeed, one witness told us about a demand from over-60s and over-70s for something called walking football.”
The independent Lothians MSP replied: “I think there are volunteers already to take people through walking football. They’re called Rangers.”
Rangers have struggled for form since beginning life in the Third Division, and were knocked out of the Ramsdens Cup by Queen of the South earlier this week.
Mr McNeil, MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, responded in jest, saying that he is “hurt, and still not ready to talk about it in public”.
