AFTER David Bowie’s plea for Scotland to “stay with us”, another international superstar has entered the independence debate with a call for a No vote.

However, the Better Together campaign may not be so pleased with this celebrity endorsement, coming as it does from a self-declared Muppet – Kermit the Frog.

Interviewed for the Big Issue magazine, the star of the Muppet Most Wanted film insisted that he wants the UK to stay united.

It drew a wry welcome from Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander, whose alleged resemblance to another Muppet, Beaker, has been the subject of much Westminster humour. “I am reliably informed that Beaker agrees with @KermitOfficial – Scotland is BetterTogether in the UK,” he wrote on Twitter.
