Councils get ready for vote

COMMUNITY councils in East Lothian have begun preparations for elections in October.

There are currently 20 community councils which serve the county and elections are held every four years.

Election returning officer, Angela Leitch, said: “Community Councils play a vital role within local democracy in East Lothian. They are consulted on a number of issues and provide an invaluable contact between East Lothian Council and the communities they represent.”
