Cartoons of the week
THE Conservatives had a major reshuffle this week with the party veering to the right
in its appointments.
Cabinet changes Included Ken Clark being replaced in justice by Chris Grayling
with Andrew Lansley making way for Jeremy Hunt.
Not to be out done, the SNP made a tactical switch with the
appointment of Nicola Sturgeon to a new role looking after the country’s infrastructure
and constitutional issues.
Sturgeon’s new role will likely see her leading the SNP government’s charge towards the
independence referendum.
The final form of the independence question again raised its head this week when Nicola
Sturgeon, in her new role, met with Secretary of State for Scotland Michael Moore and
his deputy David Mundell to discuss the issue.
The SNP administration are looking for a ballot paper which includes more powers for the Scottish
Parliament whereas the coalition are seeking a straight yes or no ballot.
Talks were described as “constructive”.
And finally, the Scottish Government sought to steal a march on tacky Scottish souvenir traders
around the country ahead of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Items for sale during the Games will include gold-plated models of the Dalmarnock tenement pulled down, in controversial
circumstances, to make way for the athletes’ village and a special edition pack of Tunnock’s tea cakes.
