Barrett wants blockade lifted

EDINBURGH West Liberal Democrat MP John Barrett has called for an immediate end to the Israeli blockade of Gaza so that much-needed food and medical supplies can get through.

The head of the UN agency helping Palestinian refugees has reported the number of Gazans living in "abject" poverty has tripled this year to 300,000.

Mr Barrett has tabled a Commons motion calling for the UK Government to increase the pressure on Israel to open the borders to Gaza for humanitarian aid.
