First Minister Alex Salmond has hailed the strong bond of friendship between Scotland and China.
Mr Salmond pointed to recent export figures that showed Chinese business had brought in an additional £605 million to the Scottish economy.
He also highlighted the education and cultural links, between the two nations
The First Minister said: “As we welcome the year of the snake, I would like to extend my best wishes to the people of China.
“Since the Scottish Government first published a China plan back in 2006, and gave a five-year strategy for engagement with your wonderful country, Scottish exports to China have risen by 45 per cent and, in turn, Scotland has seen major investments from China in industries such as oil and gas, refining, textiles and engineering.”
