Thatcher years up for debate in the Capital
FOUR top political figures will debate Margaret Thatcher's Scottish legacy at an event in Edinburgh's Signet Library next week.
Former Foreign Secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind and former Scottish Tory leader David McLetchie will go head-to-head with former Labour minister Brian Wilson and former SNP deputy leader Jim Sillars.
The event marks the publication of a new book, We in Scotland – Thatcherism in a Cold Climate, by former Evening News journalist David Torrance.
The debate, to be chaired by Bernard Ponsonby, is on Monday – the 30th anniversary of Mrs Thatcher's first election victory.
