Tax cuts up to £15bn likely

TAX cuts for the poorest in society are expected to be unveiled in this month's Pre-Budget report.

The cuts are expected to total up to 15 billion and will see the 10p tax band rebate extended for another year.

With a looming recession, the government is keen to boost consumer confidence by leaving more in people's pockets.

Other moves could include increasing tax credits for low-income families and delaying a rise in petrol duty.
