Students to get funding boost
EDUCATION Secretary Fiona Hyslop has announced new financial support for part-time students.
For the first time, funding for post-graduate students – which is currently limited to those on full-time courses – will be extended to up to 150 part-time students in 2009/10.
The Scottish Government is also extending the availability of funding to part-time students under the Individual Learning Account scheme.
Lothians MSP Ms Hyslop said ministers recognised the financial pressures faced by learners in the current economic climate and the importance of ensuring people strengthened their existing skills or were supported in obtaining new skills.
