SNP admits six Holyrood fund events

HOLYROOD'S "Lunchgate" row escalated today after the SNP admitted it auctioned a total of six events at the Scottish Parliament to raise money for party funds.

As well as the 9,000 paid for lunch with First Minister Alex Salmond in the parliament restaurant and another 2,000 lunch with Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, there were also three further lunches at Holyrood sold for 1,500 and a tour of the parliament by Ms Sturgeon which went for 260.

Mr Salmond has cancelled all the lunches until the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body, which is in charge of the building, clarifies the rules.

Labour branded the auctions "cash for access" and accused Mr Salmond of demeaning his office.
