Edinburgh named best place to live in UK
The Scottish Capital has come top in a survey of more than 130 UK council areas in a new quality of life index.
Comparison site USwitch looked at large districts and cities across the UK and rated them on 26 different lifestyle factors.
Edinburgh was found to be the best place to live in the UK, knocking Solihull in the West Midlands off the top spot.
Scottish NHS is in critical condition say watchdogs
The public spending watchdog, Audit Scotland, laid bare a litany of problems in its report, including tightening budgets, rising costs, higher demand for services, pressure to meet targets and increased staff vacancies.
The document, entitled NHS in Scotland 2015, warned that the NHS would not be able to continue providing its current level of service unless profound changes were made.

Superhero tartan range launched by Paisley kiltmakers
A 106-year-old firm of kiltmakers have created a range of superhero tartan in a bid to get more youngsters wearing traditional dress.
The designs range from a purple and green tartan - in the colours of The Incredible Hulk - to the red and blue of Spiderman.
Cartlton Cole signs for Celtic
A statement from the Parkhead side said: “Celtic are delighted to announce that striker Carlton Cole has signed for the club until the summer of 2017.”
The 32-year-old had been training with the Scottish champions for much of the last four weeks and has done enough to convince manager Ronny Deila to add him to his squad.
Cole was a free agent after being released by West Ham United at the end of last season.
