Labour MP Jess Phillips pledges to openly ‘knife’ Jeremy Corbyn

Recently elected Labour MP Jess Phillips said she would “knife” leader Jeremy Corbyn if it becomes clear he can’t win the next general election.

The representative for Birmingham Yardley said she has criticised Corbyn and his office in person and told them: “I won’t knife you in the back – I’ll knife you in the front”.

Supporters of all parties were highly critical of the MP’s choice of words, and suggested it was inappropriate to threaten Corbyn. Others described the interview as a breath of fresh air in contrast to other political interviews.

SNP urged to ‘come clean’ on Forth Road Bridge repairs

Ministers are under growing pressure to release all documents on maintenance of the Forth Road Bridge following revelations that officials were warned of the need for urgent repairs ten months ago. Labour called on the Scottish Government to “come clean” and be fully transparent about when it first became aware of pressure on the bridge’s truss end links – one of which has since cracked, causing the bridge’s closure.

The comments divided social media as some echoed Labour’s comments on the SNP ‘coming clean’, while some dismissed the claims as a smear campaign by the party.
