NHS Lothian chiefs brief MSPs on rapid spread of swine flu
LOTHIAN MSPs met with the NHS Lothian Board to discuss the rapid spread of the H1N1 virus in Scotland.
MSPs were briefed on the current number of laboratory confirmed cases – 23 – as well as the mechanisms that are currently in place in the health board area.
MSP and former GP Ian McKee said: "It must be reiterated that people with suspected symptoms should not visit their GP. This is absolutely crucial communication that must be made crystal clear to the general public.
"It's absolutely essential that the priority groups for vaccination are treated immediately. This is not just people with underlying health issues, but health and social care workers, pregnant women, young children and the elderly."
