Murphy: Labour has learnt lesson of by-election defeat
LABOUR says it has learned from defeat in last year's Glasgow East by-election as it prepares to take on the SNP in a nearby constituency.
Party leaders said the loss to the Nationalists had taught them a lesson that had been put into practice during the successful Glenrothes by-election campaign and would be continued during the fight for Glasgow North East.
Speaking at the launch of the party's campaign for the 12 November poll, Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy said: "After Glasgow East, we know how to lose a by-election. After Glenrothes, we know how to win, and we are going to do our very best by the folk in this community."
• David Doherty, the Scottish Green Party's candidate in the by-election, will take to the road in an electric car today to launch his campaign and highlight the benefits of such vehicles.
