A MAN has been arrested in connection with an incident in which a Scottish Government minister was allegedly subject to racist abuse.

A 30-year-old is currently detained in custody following an incident involving Humza Yousaf MSP last week.

The external affairs minister was selling the Big Issue magazine to raise awareness about homelessness outside Glasgow Queen Street last Tuesday.

He told The Scotsman on Saturday that he was approached and spoken to by a man at the Dundas Street who behaved in a threatening manner and made racist comments.

Police said a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The man is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday.
