Labour MPs to sign pledge
POTENTIAL Labour MPs will have to sign up to an "integrity pledge" to commit to eight principles, including prudence with public money.
Gordon Brown told activists that they had to comply with the commitments in an effort to clean up politics after the expenses fiasco.
The Prime Minister said: "We have got to make sure people see that their MPs and those who seek to represent them are acting in the public interest and not in their self-interest.
"We have got to make sure that people see that their politicians are in it, not for what they can get, but for what they can give."
The pledge, which it is hoped will be extended to sitting MPs, also commits signatories to comply with Commons rules and to publish all allowances.
