Labour leader scorns Salmond's 'gaffe'
LABOUR last night dismissed claims by Alex Salmond that Scotland was two thirds of the way towards independence.
The First Minister made his claim over the weekend as Scotland celebrated devolution's tenth birthday and the SNP marked two years as the Scottish Government.
Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray said the "gaffe" showed Mr Salmond was "obsessed" with separation.
"During the worst economic crisis since the war, the rest of Scotland is planning for recovery but Alex Salmond is planning for a referendum," he said.
Despite Mr Salmond's claims it seems clear the pro-Union parties still intend to block his referendum bill next year. But the SNP said its increasing support showed Mr Salmond was right.
