Labour donor demands funding reforms
ONE of Labour's biggest donors in Scotland yesterday said he would not give the party any more money until the row over funding is cleared up.
Glasgow businessman Willie Haughey, who has given an estimated 1 million to Labour since 2003, said allowing those who donate less than 1,000 to remain anonymous was unnecessary. He called on Gordon Brown, the Prime Minister, to ensure all donors are declared so that "every single penny given to any party is transparent", adding: "I won't be giving any more if that is not the case."
The Electoral Commission is currently investigating two donations to Scottish Labour by Paul Green, which were illegal because he is not registered to vote in the UK.
