Hilary waves hello to Leith energy project
UK Environment Secretary Hilary Benn visited Leith docks to see the pioneering wave power project Pelamis and hailed it as a flagship for carbon-free energy.
The snake-like string of metal tubes, which generate power as they bob on the water, were developed in Leith and are now at the heart of the world's first commercial wave farm off Portugal. "It is a source of great pride that this is where the first commercial off-shore wave energy was generated," said Mr Benn.
Mr Benn also took part in a question and answer session at Pilrig Church in Leith Walk.
