Glaswegian accent is the ‘UK’s sexiest’ according to American survey

A new survey has revealed that Americans find Glaswegian the ‘sexiest’ of all British accents.

The research, carried out by British Airways, asked 1,000 Americans and 1,000 Britons for their take on different regional accents, with 25 per cent of the Americans surveyed highlighting the Glaswegian tongue as the sexiest.

Royal High School hotel project ‘has doubled in size’

Developers have been accused virtually doubling the size of a controversial hotel project since they won a contest to take over one of the Edinburgh’s most prestigious landmarks.

The charity is warning that views of the 19th century landmark, which it describes as “an outstanding piece of neo-classical architecture”, will be ruined by the proposed hotel.

Nicola Sturgeon issues second referendum warning over EU vote

Opening the SNP conference in Aberdeen, the SNP leader said if Scotland was taken out of the EU against its wishes David Cameron would be breaching the terms of last year’s referendum.

She said the party respected last year’s No vote, but added that if there was “strong and consistent” evidence that people had changed their minds then the SNP had no right to stand in the way of democracy.

Scotland to appeal Ross Ford and Jonny Gray bans

Edinburgh Rugby hooker Ford and Glasgow Warriors second row Gray were hit with the suspensions following tackles made in Scotland’s 36-33 win over Samoa last Saturday, which secured the Scots’ participation in this weekend’s quarter-finals.

Scottish Rugby Chief Executive Mark Dodson said: “We hold Ross and Jonny in very high regard and as a result will be launching a robust appeal to challenge their suspensions, which we feel are unduly harsh.
